Greetings,
This may be the strangest course you've ever taken.
On campus, we run a full-service advertising agency, Flying Pig Brand, LLC, dba as Whoopass Branding. We work with real clients, and we never know what we're going to be working on in advance. This online class mirrors the class on-campus in scope and unpredictability.
If you have questions along the way, call me on my cell: 601-513-1833
Better yet, post in the GroupMe, where you will also find directions for our client projects.

We are exploring the possibility of branding the Communications and Creative Arts department.
Integrated Marketing Communications graduated our first cohort of students in 2013. A couple of years in, we developed the IMC mark seen here. The inspiration came out of a casual conversation—a student said he felt he was where he needed to be, as though the program perfectly fit his goals and aspirations and found him, even though he hadn’t known about the program initially. We caught the phrase and used it. We like it because it suggests exclusivity, distinction, and pride. Fast forward to two years ago. When we inherited the Art, Theatre, and Music programs, we launched a new major, Creative Arts Enterprise, which you can read more about below. We developed a secondary mark for CAE, seen below.

The combined department members get along swimmingly. We think of ourselves as CCA, but our students don’t even know the new department exists. Herein lies the problem. Can we successfully add another umbrella mark and still maintain the continuity and pride shared by each group? Had I known we would eventually create this combined department, I would have designed these differently. They do not play nicely with one another. See below. However, we have developed really strong brand affinity, and the two groups really own their brand marks. We have been using this, with some success. The portfolio tag emphasizes the importance of showing solid work that sells itself.
