Only show two design options. If you show three, clients will Frankenstein your work, picking colors from one, fonts from another, marks from another. And what you end up with, everyone will hate. This advice doesn't come from a textbook. It comes from personal experience--doing it wrong and wondering what the hell happened in presentation.

And here's another tip: Don't show one great solution next to a crappy one. Clients will invariable pick the wrong one. Every time. I know this from other real-life experiences. I still drive around town in shame when I look at signage that's my fault. I thought I was being so clever by outsmarting clients. And then I finally realized that's what they were paying me for.

They hired me because they don't have an eye for design.
