3 SEMESTER HOURS

This course allows the student to create a portfolio Web site using HTML, CSS, WordPress, and Divi by Elegant Themes. Image optimization will be taught using Photoshop. Other assets will be created using Adobe Creative Cloud.

In the last week of the course, students are required to complete and present a working print and Web portfolio to present to major professors in anticipation of presentations for future employers.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The student will learn Responsive Web design in WordPress using Elegant Themes’ Divi. The student will gain experience in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud computer software, learning to create projects suitable for commercial use. The student will engage in critical analysis, form aesthetic judgments, and develop an appreciation of design as an art form.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to perform the following:

Print Portfolio

• Purchase and create a comprehensive/targeted working portfolio flip book for professors' review in preparation for presentation to potential employers

Web Site

• Create a WordPress Web site using Divi
• Demonstrate design planning with thumbnails, and flowcharts
• Demonstrate solid design principles of Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity
• Follow accepted file management hierarchy structures
• Create and edit images in Adobe CC and/or other digital darkroom programs
