Greetings,

We will not be using Blackboard this semester. We will be using Notion.so content at GregJones.co.

We will use GroupMe to vet our work before submitting for a grade.

TASK 1 (Online Students Only)

If you do not have Adobe Creative Cloud, which contains InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and a host of other professional-grade programs, let me know via GroupMe ONLY, and I will request it for you, which usually takes a couple of days. CC access notifications will be delivered via email from UWA’s IT department and/or Adobe.

I WILL turn in your request to IT. I will like your GroupMe request by clicking the red heart, but I WILL NOT respond to you in words, because nobody's got time for all that. Be patient, and start class without CC. Courses are designed with this delay in mind. Likely, you have tutorials to watch, stuff to read, assets to download, sketches to create.

SAVE A BIT, SAVE A BYTE

Think of all the bytes we can save by avoiding unnecessary back-and-forth.

I need Abobe CC.

I'll request it for you.

Okay, I know you said you'd request CC for me, but I haven't heard anything, and it's been two whole hours!

An hour later: Did you get my earlier email?

I requested CC for you, but as I already mentioned, it takes a couple of days for IT and Adobe to set up the account.

Okay, Thanks. I was just checking.

10 minutes later: Sorry to bother you again, but does the email come from you, or IT, or Adobe? I haven't heard anything yet. Should I check my spam folder?

Next day: Do you think my email is broken? Are you getting these messages? I really can't afford to get behind in this class. I know classes started Monday, and I'm just now looking at the content on Thursday, but I'm worried about missing the deadline.

<aside> ✌🏻 Maybe you don't find this amusing, but rest assured, I don't think it's funny either. Multiply this by 12 students for two classes to fully appreciate why I'm writing this. I cannot let this be my life. I love teaching online, but I'd much rather spend my time evaluating work than getting caught up in this kind of nonsense. Thank you for understanding.

Navigating Notion

Notion is great because it's database driven. From time to time, however, especially when you first start using Notion, you may encounter a page that you think is blank. Don't Panic. Two clicks will get you going again, based on what you see.

Option 1

Click the underlined title in the new page as shown in this screenshot, which will open the page:

Option 2

Hover over the referenced link, and a button will appear to click like this, which will open the page:
